3 Rules of Thumb for Saving Energy at Home

Share

If you’d like to save the most home energy with the least effort, and look really smart doing it, remember these 3 rules of thumb:

1.  The bigger and older it is, the more energy is probably uses. Think about that old fridge in the garage before the second iPhone charger in the den.

2.  If it’s hot, its not. Many charging devices now have an adapter. If it’s warm to the touch, it’s wasting electricity. If it’s not, it probably isn’t.

 3.  Put a timer on it. We leave many things on that don’t need to be left on. Lamps, computers, cable boxes, charging stations. Put these on a timer with a smart power strip or smart plug. For really big savings, stop heating and cooling your home when nobody is there with a smart thermostat.
